Bringing health “warrants of fitness” to Waiheke women
In July 2025, our Pink Campervan took to the water—ferrying across to Waiheke Island for a day dedicated to local women’s health. Partnering with BreastScreen Auckland Central, Auckland Bowel Screening, and the Well Women & Family Trust, we joined forces at Waiheke Living to deliver free “health warrants of fitness” for the community.
Thanks to your support, wāhine could drop in for friendly, practical advice and conversations that make a real difference—about breast health, screening, and the small steps that can save lives. For many, it was the first time they’d had the chance to ask questions in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
Our community nurse educators were there all day, offering guidance, support and expert advice. As Deb, one of our educators, shared:
“What really stood out was how pleased Waiheke residents were to see us in their community. One woman told me, ‘I’ve only ever checked for a lump. I didn’t know there were other signs of breast cancer to look out for.’ Another admitted, ‘I haven’t been checking as much as I should, just a quick feel before my mammogram.’”
These honest conversations are exactly why your support matters. Every time our Pink Campervans travel into communities like Waiheke, they help us reach people who might otherwise miss out, and reminds women that their health is worth checking, protecting, and celebrating.
Thank you for helping make days like this possible, and for being part of the community that keeps the Pink Campervans rolling.
