I'm hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the nine women diagnosed with breast cancer each day in New Zealand.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in Aotearoa New Zealand. 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime; in 2019, that was me. I count my blessings every day, my disease was caught just early enough for a good prognosis, and I'm doing very well 5 years on. Hey, I even got the wavy hair I always dreamed of out of it!

But 650 people in Aotearoa die from Breast Cancer every year.  This is why I’m hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast this year, to help change that, so others can have the same kinds of outcomes as I have.

Breast cancer can affect anyone who has breast tissue - which is anyone who hasn't had it surgically removed, so I wanted to make my event as inclusive as possible. Coming together in a virtual Pink Ribbon breakfast (or brunch, or lunch, or afternoon tea, even supper, the choice is yours) we can help share awareness and raise funds, and it's as simple as sharing a photo of one of your meals that day on social media, and donating the money you would have spent if you'd gone out for brunch, or lunch, or afternoon tea...

By donating, and encouraging others to do so too, we can raise funds for life-saving education, life-changing patient support and ground-breaking medical research. And bring us closer to a day when there are zero deaths from breast cancer.

Thank you for visiting my page, I hope you decide to join us on the 25th in sharing your brekkie and your donation.

Today's the day!

Mōrena,
Today is the day, share a photo of your brekkie, or any other meal today, share a donation link, and help raise funds for this great charity (who gave me a ton of support 5 years ago when I really needed it).
We hit the initial fundraising target of $350 on Thursday, and as of this morning, we're up to $568, which is enough to keep the Pink Campervan out in the community providing education and awareness for 4 hours. A full day on the road costs BCFNZ $1250, so I'm upped my fundraising goal to that - can we do it?

What a fantastic idea! I'm donating as my mum, Aunty & little sister all had breast cancer. Mum passed away aged 52, but my sister is doing well so far. My Aunty survived & passed away of other causes in her 80s.
