Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Kiwi women, with 1 in 9 women facing a diagnosis in their lifetime. Each year, 650 women in Aotearoa lose their lives to this disease. While breast cancer is often associated with women, it’s important to remember that it does not solely affect females; men with a family history are also at risk, often diagnosed at later stages with more challenging prognoses.
Breast cancer doesn't always present itself as a lump, making awareness and early detection crucial.
This year, we're taking part in the Pink Ribbon Walk to change the narrative around breast cancer. Every three hours, a woman is diagnosed with this life-altering disease, and it's time for us to take action.Â
We are walking to raise awareness, to bring hope, and to fund life-saving education, patient support, and cutting-edge research that could one day lead us to a world with zero breast cancer deaths.Â
Alarmingly, breast cancer is not just an issue for older women; about 11% of cases occur in women aged 25 to 44, highlighting a rapid increase in risk for our younger population. It’s more important than ever to support those affected and spread the message of early detection and comprehensive care.
Please donate to our cause and help us make a difference. Together, we can save lives and support groundbreaking research that will bring us closer to a future where breast cancer no longer takes our loved ones.
