We're doing the Pink Ribbon Walk for our mum.
We’re taking part in the Pink Ribbon Walks for my beautiful mother, Kelleigh Burkett. She past away nearly 5 years ago at the young age of 48 leaving behind myself and my 2 younger sisters from stage 4 matatastic breast cancer which spread to her liver, brain and blood. My mother, Kelleigh was diagnosed at the young age of 38 as well as the BRACA gene only about 5 months after birthing my youngest sister who she was still breast feeding, while I was only 5 and my other sister was 1 and half. She fought with a brave and courages heart for 10 years before she ran out of fight. She took part in many cancer clinical trials here in Auckland, Christchurch and even Sydney in hopes of finding something that would extend her life to be able to watch me and my sisters grow, after too long though her body no longer accepted any medication. Kelleigh not only wanted to find medications that would help her but other women fighting breast cancer here in New Zealand in order to give them more opportunities to extend their lives with their families. But I am trying to continue her legacy onwards by trying to reach everyone around her that she touched and much further than that. My mum was the most brave, courages and loving person I have met filled with a smile and kindness that she aimed to spread to everyone around her, she had this certain beauty and strong will that she graced everyone with.
