I'm taking part in the Pink Ribbon Walks for the nine women diagnosed with breast cancer each day in NZ and many more around the world.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women. 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. And 650 women in Aotearoa die from the disease every year.
Ali and I are taking part in this years Pink Ribbon walk to honour Ali's Mum, Audrey, who has been through this this year, as well as her 'second mum' growing up, Gaynor, who sadly is no longer with us. Lastly for a very dear friend of mine that has been through the absolute ringer the last few years with various forms of cancer and one rare one that is extremely hard to fund treatment for. Seeing first hand the physical and emotional toll it can take on even the strongest women has had a huge effect and every little bit I can do to help others is nothing in comparison.
Your donation will help to raise funds for life-saving education, life-changing patient support and ground-breaking medical research. And bring us closer to a day when there are zero deaths from breast cancer.
Good on you Annie - a great cause to support!
