After working in hospitals and being exposed to the number of women effected by breast cancer, Sean Lewis and four of his fellow Kiwi doctors took on the Rickshaw Run, a fundraising race across the length of India in a tuk-tuk! The boys did an amazing job, finishing with both their tuk-tuks in one piece and raising over $4,000 in the process.
Henry Duncan decided to brave the shave and say goodbye to his luscious locks. “I have unfortunately had a couple of people very close to me suffer from breast cancer, my mother beating it twice now and unfortunately a major figure in my life (my Aunt) lose the fight to it last year. I wanted to show my support for them”. With the support of his friends and family, Henry raised a whopping $1,092 by the time the big day came. “I think my favourite part of fundraising was the amount of support I received. I heard a lot of stories and it kind of broke the ice for a lot of people to have a chat about their experiences with cancer”
"New Zealand has the 7th highest incidence of breast cancer in the world, with nine women being diagnosed with the disease every day. Us five boys (Will, Charles, Callum, Seb and Harrison) understand the far-reaching impact that such a cancer can have on our families and communities, that is why we put our hands up to show support for those who are so bravely fighting their own battles every day. Over the period of 10th-30th of November, we collectively ran 300km with the hope that we could raise enough money to further the amazing work the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ is currently doing!"
