I'm hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast in honor of my mother and for the nine women diagnosed with breast cancer each day in New Zealand.
Four years ago I lost my beloved mother- my best friend, mentor and role model. She fought a long battle with breast cancer since 2009. It has taken me four years to build up the courage to talk about cancer and finally host a pink ribbon morning tea for my Auckland Eye colleagues. My mum had the biggest sweet tooth, so a sweet morning tea only seems fitting.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women. 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. And 650 women in Aotearoa die from the disease every year.
That’s why I’m hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast this year, to do my part to help change that and to hopefully raise more awareness so that others don't lose their loved ones too soon like I did.
Please donate to raise funds for life-saving education, life-changing patient support and ground-breaking medical research. And bring us closer to a day when there are zero deaths from breast cancer.
