I'm not going to be hosting a Pink Ribbon breakfast but I will be collecting donations to go to the Breast Cancer Foundation to go to helping the nine women diagnosed with breast cancer each day in New Zealand.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women. 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime and I am one of them. And 650 women in Aotearoa die from the disease every year.
That's why I'm fundraising for this cause again this year. The BCF gives a huge amount of support to all those people out there that have been diagnosed with breast cancer and having experienced this support for myself, I feel it is a worthy cause to get involved with.
I know that times are tough out there and there isn't a lot spare to go towards donations, but every tiny bit helps so if you can spare some small change, I will have a donation box set up as well at my workplace if you don't feel you can donate direct.
Please don't feel you have to donate though, as I also want to use this opportunity to remind you all if you are of the age, to get regular mammograms or request that you all do a self check and if you find anything unusual, please get checked out immediately.
The funds raised go to life-saving education, life-changing patient support and ground-breaking medical research. And brings us closer to a day when there are zero deaths from breast cancer.
