Running Against Cancer

By Gordon Homewood

I’m helping raise vital funds for breast cancer education, research and patient support.

In December this year, my friends and I will run a marathon distance of 42.2km to raise money in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. As my mum was diagnosed a few weeks ago, the money raised will not only support her but thousands of other Kiwis in their fight against Breast Cancer. The exact details are a work in progress and a lot of us still have some arduous training ahead, to properly prepare for a challenge of this caliber. Nevertheless, were are more determined than ever.

The route we are considering takes us from the outskirts of Lake Ellesmere, through Lincoln, the Christchurch City Centre and finishes on the New Brighton Pier.

The money raised helps fund groundbreaking research, spreads awareness about breast cancer and health, provides free support for patients and so much more. However, just a reshare of this donation page is more than enough support, I know that not everyone is privileged enough to be able to donate. Even spreading awareness and getting just one person to consider a mammogram could save a life.

I could not do this without the support from those close to me and I wish to thank those running alongside me, I have never been my proud to call you guys my friends. Finally, I want to thank my mum, you've instilled in me strength and determination and everyday I try my best to be the man that you raised me to be. If I know anyone can beat cancer, it's you.

This page will be updated as details become clearer closer to the event, but updates will also be posted on my Instagram: gordon_homewood

Thank You.
