I'm hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the nine women diagnosed with breast cancer each day in New Zealand.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women. 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. And 650 women in Aotearoa die from the disease every year.

As a breast cancer survivor myself, that’s why I’m hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast this year, to help change that.

Please donate to raise funds for life-saving education, life-changing patient support and ground-breaking medical research. And bring us closer to a day when there are zero deaths from breast cancer.

Chihuahua Social Club High Tea - Pokeno

As my Chihuahua's were so crucial to my mental and physical wellbeing during my 14 months of treatment and are sadly no longer with me. I wanted to combine my passion and celebrate the impact they had on my life whilst raising funds for a cause close to my heart.

So what better way to do than to have a High Tea event where you can bring your little companions as well!

On Sunday 26th May at 2pm, will be my first pink ribbon fundraising event, held at Mercer Landing Kitchen & Bar, where you can also bring your small pups as they have a dog friendly area.

The High Tea will be held after the two hour Farm walk, you are welcome to join for one or both events.

My story

In September 2016, after finding a lump in my right breast, I was diagnosed with HER2+ aggressive breast cancer that had spread to the lymph node in my mammary gland chain underneath my breast.

That led to 14 months of treatment that included chemotherapy, surgery, radiation and infusion treatments every three weeks, that ultimately saved my life.

I was just 38 years old at the time and to say it was a shock is an understatement. Just as it is for so many others, every day, when they receive their diagnosis.

All my animals were integral to my recovery, supporting both my mental and physical wellbeing, but in particular my two little Chihuahuas, Shelby & Bailey, who were by my side throughout giving me all their unconditional love.

This event is to  raise funds for breast cancer and to bring together a community of small dog lovers, to celebrate the  positive impact they have on our lives in our time of need.
