In March of this year, I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer and wish to raise awareness of the importance of knowing the density of your breasts.

Double down on your density. The higher the density of your breasts, the more tricky it can be to find changes. Lobular breast cancer does not always present as a lump, it can just be a thickening or a subtle change that feels like something outside your 'normal'. Please have a tomosynthesis mammogram and an ultrasound for reassurance. 

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women. 1 in 10 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime, and 650 women in Aotearoa die from the disease every year.

My supportive friends, Maree T,  Janey C are joining me to take part in the Pink Ribbon Walk to help raise funds for life-saving education, patient support, and ground-breaking medical research. 

I am very grateful to the wonderful Breast Cancer Foundation nurses who were there for advice and support early on in my breast cancer journey.
