I’m helping raise vital funds for breast cancer education, research and patient support.
For the past 11 years, I have created the Pōhutukawa Coast Calendar as a way of celebrating the beautiful landscape we live in while giving back to my local community .
As a professional photographer and designer, I spend much of my time looking at the world through a camera. Every year, I head out around the Pōhutukawa Coast, this is where I live. This area of East Auckland, Whitford, Beachlands and Maraetai is stunning and the surrounding coastline and regional parks offers lots of opportunities to take photos, I love looking for those special places, changing seasons and moments that capture what makes our corner of New Zealand so beautiful.
I then bring a selection of these photographs together to create the annual A4 calendar. This calendar is being printed on quality paper by a carbon-zero printer here is Aotearoa.
What started as a personal passion project has grown into an annual community tradition. People look forward to the calendar each year, and many enjoy giving it as a gift to family and friends. An envelope is included, making it easy to send a little piece of the Pōhutukawa Coast overseas.
Supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ
For the 2027 calendar, I am delighted to be supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.
My company, Saxer Design Ltd, finances the printing of the calendars, while I donate my time, photography and design skills to the project. This means that the calendar can continue to be a fundraising vehicle, with proceeds supporting the important work of the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Breast cancer affects so many families and communities. We all have friends or family that got affected by breast cancer. Through this year's calendar, I hope to combine something I love, photographing and celebrating our beautiful environment, with a cause that can make a real difference.
