I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in Feb 2011. The same week as the CHCH earthquake.... and I lived in Christchurch!!
Our lives were tipped upside down more than once that week.
Due to everything being in emergency mode in Christchurch I had all of my testing (which was followed by a double mastectomy and reconstruction) in Auckland. I needed all of the support I could and the BCFNZ were a tower of strength for me. The Nurses are amazing and along with my surgical team I was able to get all of the answers I needed.
Early detection is the key !! This saves lives and every little donation goes to help with the research and support for women like me and many others.
Splash of Pink is a not for profit that I have set up to raise awareness and funds for BCFNZ through speaking events & holding a Black Tie Gala Dinner.
Nine women a day are diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand. The money I raise from this page will be used to fund vital research projects and medical grants to help improve the survivorship of breast cancer in New Zealand. It will also help support Kiwi women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer through services such as counselling and rehabilitation programmes.
