I'm hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the ten women diagnosed with breast cancer each day in New Zealand.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women. 1 in 10 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. And 650 women in Aotearoa die from the disease every year.

That’s why I’m hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast this year, to help change that.

Please donate to raise funds for life-saving education, life-changing patient support and ground-breaking medical research. And bring us closer to a day when there are zero deaths from breast cancer.

💗 Why This Pink Ribbon Breakfast Matters to Me

Pink Ribbon Breakfast has always been more than just getting together over good kai.

It’s about connection, awareness, and coming together with purpose — to support women, families and whānau affected by breast cancer, and to help bring New Zealand closer to zero deaths from this disease.

This cause is deeply personal to me. Dr Heidi McRae, my doctor, passed away from breast cancer, and her loss is a powerful reminder that this disease does not discriminate. Even with medical knowledge, expertise, and care, breast cancer can take far too much, far too soon. Heidi was not only an incredible doctor, but a person who made a lasting impact on the lives of so many — and she is deeply missed.

With 1 in 10 New Zealand women diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, many of us will have our own stories, connections, or losses. Hosting this year’s Pink Ribbon Breakfast in May is my way of honouring Heidi’s memory, supporting others currently on their journey, and contributing to vital research, education and early‑detection initiatives that save lives.

Every donation, big or small, helps fund better treatments, greater awareness, and hope for the future. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this event — whether by donating, attending, or sharing this page.

If this page encourages even one person to check their breast health, support someone they love, or take action, then it truly matters.

Thank you for being part of this with me 💕

What We Can Achieve Together: Fundraising Goals & Rewards for Pink Ribbon 2026

One of the things I love about hosting a Pink Ribbon event each year is seeing how our collective effort adds up to something meaningful. Every dollar we raise directly supports life‑saving breast cancer research, education, and services for New Zealanders — and this year, there are also some fun rewards we can unlock along the way.

The Breast Cancer Foundation NZ has set up several fundraising tiers for 2026, and depending on how much we raise, we could earn some great rewards. Even better:
If we win any of the major prizes, I’ll be auctioning them off to raise even more money.
It’s a great way to keep the generosity going and maximise our impact.

Here’s what we can unlock together:

🎀 Raise $350

Receive a limited‑edition Pink Ribbon Breakfast tea towel — a bright and cheerful keepsake to celebrate our contribution.

🎀 Raise $750

Be entered into the draw to win a Thermomix TM7 — an amazing prize for anyone who loves cooking (or wants a kitchen wizard doing the work for them!).
If we win this, it will be auctioned off to raise further funds.

🎀 Raise $1,250

Join the Pink Ribbon Breakfast Club and receive a VIP mug.
This is my minimum goal for 2026 — a milestone that represents meaningful support for the cause.

🎀 Raise $2,500

Step into the new Pink Ribbon Breakfast Showstoppers tier and receive a limited‑edition apron.
This is the exciting stretch goal, because $2,500 is what we raised last year, and I’d absolutely love for us to hit that level again.

My Goal for 2026

This year, I’m aiming to raise at least $1,250, but my real hope is that we reach the $2,500 Showstopper tier again. Last year’s generosity was incredible, and every contribution — big or small — helps us honour those affected by breast cancer and support better outcomes for the future.

Thank you to everyone who gets involved — by donating, attending, sharing the page, or cheering us on. Together, we can make a meaningful difference… and maybe even auction off a Thermomix while we’re at it!

💗🎀 Let’s make this our biggest and most impactful Pink Ribbon event yet.

Why I Host a Pink Ribbon Event Each Year

Every year, when Pink Ribbon season arrives, I find myself reflecting on why this cause matters so deeply to me. Hosting a Pink Ribbon event isn’t just something I do out of routine — it’s something I do from the heart, in honour of someone who played a significant role in my life.

In 2022, my long‑term GP passed away at just 55 from breast cancer. She had been my doctor for my entire life — someone I trusted, someone who genuinely cared, and someone who supported me through countless moments of my own health journey. She was one of those rare people who made you feel seen and looked after.

During the COVID lockdowns, routine mammograms were cancelled. By the time she was finally able to have her delayed screening, the cancer they found was already stage 4. She went through every treatment available, and for a short while there was hope. But a few months later, they discovered the cancer had spread to her brain. Four months after that, she was gone.

She left behind a husband and three teenage children.

Her story stays with me. It’s a reminder of how quickly life can change, how crucial early detection is, and how devastating the impact can be when access to screening is delayed. It’s also a reminder that breast cancer does not discriminate — it affects mums, daughters, sisters, friends, and even the people we trust to look after our health.

So when I host a Pink Ribbon event, I do it for her.
I do it for her family.
I do it for the people currently fighting.
And I do it for those who might never have to face a late diagnosis if research, education, and early detection continue to improve.

These events are more than morning teas or gatherings. They raise funds that directly support life‑saving research and services. They spark conversations that might encourage someone to book a check‑up. They create awareness that can genuinely change outcomes.

This year, as I host my third Pink Ribbon event at work, my “why” is clear and incredibly personal:
I never want another family to lose someone they love because help came too late.

Thank you to everyone who takes part — whether you donate, attend, or simply help spread the message. Your support means more than you know. Together, we’re helping to honour the people we’ve lost, stand with those fighting today, and protect the generations still to come.
