For my Gran

In 2012 the shocking news was delivered to our family. My Gran had 3 lumps in one breast and 2 lumps in the other, the mammogram however only picked up 2 of the lumps in her right breast.  This resulted in a double mastectomy.

Gran fought the cancer off before it returned nearly 10 years later which resulted in a hysterectomy. She very bravely fought it off once again before sadly 2 years ago it came back and decided to stay.

My gran has to take chemotherapy tablets 21 days out of the month before having 2 injections of hormone blockers in her hips once a month to try prevent the cancer from growing. As you can imagine this is a lot for her already frail body.

I cannot express how proud of my Gran I am for her strength and braveness during her journey. 

Shockingly 9 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand everyday.
