I'm hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the ten women diagnosed with breast cancer each day in New Zealand.
This Pink Ribbon Breakfast is especially close to my heart, as my mum was recently diagnosed with breast cancer after self-detecting a lump earlier this year.
After scans, biopsies, and surgery, she was diagnosed with Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. Thankfully, her lymph nodes were clear and the cancer was identified as highly treatable. She has since undergone a successful lumpectomy and will continue treatment with radiation and hormone therapy.
While her diagnosis was one of the more treatable forms of breast cancer, hearing the words “you have breast cancer” was still incredibly scary for our family. This fundraiser is our way of giving back and supporting the research, treatment, and care that help women like my mum every single day.
