I'm hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the ten women diagnosed with breast cancer each day in New Zealand.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women. 1 in 10 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. And 650 women in Aotearoa die from the disease every year.

That’s why I’m hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast this year, to help change that.

Please donate to raise funds for life-saving education, life-changing patient support and ground-breaking medical research. And bring us closer to a day when there are zero deaths from breast cancer.

Manjit & Quest on Johnston - My Why

I’m taking part in Pink Ribbon Breakfast this year because breast cancer touches so many women, families, friendships, and communities in one way or another. For me, this is about more than just fundraising — it’s about connection, kindness, support, and creating moments where people come together for an important cause.

This year feels especially meaningful personally because the past year has been emotionally challenging in many ways. After my mum was seriously injured in an accident, I experienced firsthand how quickly life can change and the emotional impact that sudden health crises and caregiving can have on families and loved ones. It gave me an even deeper appreciation for compassion, friendship, community, and simply being there for one another during difficult times.

Rather than hosting just one event, we are creating a collection of Pink Ribbon fundraising moments from May through to the end of June. This includes collections at work, a Pink Ribbon Kitty Party, and other small events, games, raffles, pink-themed food, and fundraising activities designed to bring people together in a warm, fun, and heartfelt way while supporting an important cause.

Our “Pink Ribbon Kitty” is all about laughter, friendship, a little bit of glamour and pink, and creating a space where people can connect while also contributing towards breast cancer awareness and support. We’ll also have optional koha and donation opportunities throughout the events for anyone who wishes to contribute.

One of the loveliest parts of this experience has been seeing colleagues, friends, and our wider Quest on Johnston community come together with such kindness, enthusiasm, and generosity to support the fundraiser. It has truly become a team effort filled with heart.

For me, Pink Ribbon is about supporting women and families through all stages of life, celebrating strength and resilience, and reminding people that even small acts of kindness and community can make a difference.

I’m proud to be involved and hope our little events help make even a small positive impact. 💗
