Why are we hosting a Pink Ribbon whānau night?
At Lighthouse Childcare, we recognise that cancer is not something distant or abstract. It is present within our own community, affecting our whānau, our kaiako, and the people we care about. This event is a way for us to come together in support of those who are facing, or have been impacted by, cancer.
Our Pink Ribbon Breakfast Whānau Night reflects our commitment to manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and whakamana. It is an opportunity to show care in action, to strengthen our relationships, and to uplift those in our community who may be navigating challenging times.
We also see this as an important way to foster a sense of belonging. By gathering as a community for a shared purpose, we create space for connection, support, and understanding. It allows our whānau to feel seen, valued, and part of something larger than themselves.
For our tamariki, this experience supports the development of empathy and social awareness. Through simple, meaningful involvement, they begin to understand the importance of caring for others and contributing to their community.
This event is not only about raising funds, but about standing together. It is about acknowledging what is happening around us and choosing to respond with compassion, connection, and collective support.
